The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Class 12 Geography board examination today, February 26, 2026, in a single morning shift from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Students were given the mandatory 15 minutes of reading time between 10:15 am and 10:30 am to carefully go through the question paper before beginning their answers.
Entry to exam centres closed at 10 am sharp, with students instructed to report well in advance carrying their admit cards and valid identification.
The Geography theory paper carries 70 marks, while the remaining 30 marks are allotted to practical and project work completed during the academic session. The question paper is expected to include a balanced mix of very short answer questions, short and long descriptive responses, case-study-based questions, and compulsory map work.
Candidates were required to identify and label key geographical features on India and world maps, including major mineral belts, ports, transport networks, and agricultural regions.
Ahead of the exam, the Board reiterated strict guidelines prohibiting electronic devices inside the examination hall and warned students against believing or circulating unverified claims regarding question paper leaks on social media.
Authorities have put security measures in place to ensure the fair conduct of examinations nationwide. Students are advised to manage their time efficiently, attempt map-based questions carefully, and reserve the final minutes for revision before submission.
