Coimbatore, Jaipur emerge as India’s Fresher hiring hotspots

For years, India’s largest cities dominated the hiring map. That pattern is now shifting. Coimbatore and Jaipur, once seen as fallback locations, are emerging as primary destinations for fresher hiring, signalling a structural change in how companies build their workforce.A recent Naukri JobSpeak report shows that non-metro cities such as Coimbatore and Jaipur have emerged as fresher hiring hotspots, recording growth of 16 per cent and 15 per cent respectively in entry-level hiring demand. The trend reflects a wider decentralisation of hiring as companies move beyond traditional urban centres.FIRMS TAP NEW TALENT POOLSRecruiters say the change is driven by both demand and strategy. Companies across IT, manufacturing, banking, financial services, and support roles are expanding into tier-2 markets to access skilled graduates and reduce operational costs.

“Coimbatore and Jaipur are no longer fallback cities for freshers. They are fast becoming first-choice hiring hubs,” said Hritesh Thakur, Talent Acquisition, IMFS, Jaipur. He added that employers see these cities as scalable talent pipelines rather than peripheral locations.This shift is happening as companies face higher attrition and rising costs in metro cities. Tier-2 cities offer a combination of stable workforce, lower salary pressure, and access to educated youth.STRUCTURAL SHIFT IN INDIA’S JOB MARKETExperts say the trend reflects a deeper structural change. Anindita Sarkar, a job analyst based in Pune, said the movement of companies into tier-2 cities is reshaping India’s hiring landscape.“The shift towards fresher hiring in cities like Coimbatore and Jaipur reflects a structural decentralisation of India’s job market.
