GBA initiates auction of 7,000 properties over unpaid tax dues

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) on Saturday initiated the auction of properties belonging to long-standing property tax defaulters after exhausting all recovery measures and providing multiple opportunities for payment. Nearly 7,000 properties across the city together owe about ₹437 crore in unpaid property tax. 

Even after more than 60 days from the date of attachment, several property owners did not clear their arrears, forcing the authorities to proceed with the auctions, officials said. Starting with properties that had the highest arrears, Joint Commissioners conducted auctions on Saturday.
